2020 Youth Development Plan
Restoration Christian Community Church is committed to creating an environment where youth and young adults will thrive and succeed. We will accomplish this by supplementing our core focus of Spiritual Development with programs and initiatives that enhance educational development, promote healthy living and address family fragmentation. It is our desire to see our young people develop into well-rounded individuals who positively impact the community.
Our youth are present day leaders in training helping to develop the world of tomorrow. Psalms 144:12 reads, “That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace.” It is the job of adults to cultivate and nurture young people into intelligent, mature adults. The RC3 Youth Ministry will create opportunities for youth to develop relationships with caring adults, provide opportunities for them to perform good works in the community and create a safe haven for each young person to develop his or her mind, body and spirit.
Where there is no vision the people perish! (Proverbs 29:18) This document is intended to provide insight into the future vision of the RC3 Youth Ministry. It will be utilized to ensure that every activity, program, event, etc. has a purpose and that purpose is in line with God’s Vision for this Ministry. This requires implementing a strategic plan with long-term aspirations which will yield short, intermediate and long-range outcomes. Thus, we are labeling our strategic plan the 20/20 Youth Development Plan because we want to realize it by the year 2020 and we want the plan to provide a perfect vision for youth and young adults in the community of Port Huron.
This lofty endeavor will not be easily accomplished. The concept of Community Youth Development (CYD) will be implemented to achieve the 20/20 Plan. CYD is a philosophy emphasizing the uniquely binding nature of youth development to community development by situating the two practices in a common framework. It combines the natural instincts of young people, as they desire to create change in their surrounding environments by developing partnerships between youth-related organizations and community development agencies to create new opportunities for youth to serve their communities while developing their personal abilities.
